In the temperature range of 100 – 300 K, the thermoelectric power and the figure of merit z in
Ag2Se based on temperature dependences of the electrical conductivity (σ), the thermopower (α0) and the thermal conductivity ( ), were calculated. An excess of
Ag and
Se in
Ag2Se is shown to increase and z, respectively. It is assumed that
Ag2Se due to its numerous structural defects is a promising material for applications in nuclear thermoelectric plants and radioisotope power sources.
